Quaint, clean, comfortable - - loved this place! A review of Inn At The Beach
My husband and I stayed here one night after being in Miami Beach for a couple days staying at the Sheraton Bal Harbour, which is supposedly a five star resort (although that's doubtful). We would take the Inn at the Beach in Venice over the Sheraton and Miami Beach any day!
The Inn is spotless and lovingly maintained. The staff was cheerful and helpful. Our room (#123) was bright, well planned (lots of smart shelves and cubbies to store your things out of the way), and comfortable. It had a sparkling tile floor, nice king bed, built-in desk, kitchenette space - - refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, cabinets, complete with free bottled water, coffee and popcorn - - and a small table with two chairs. We were on the first floor, which opened via a sliding door to a small patio with two chairs directly across from the beach. The bath had a small, spotless shower, plenty of soft fluffy towels and fun ocean-inspired toiletries. The only thing the Inn is lacking is a computer for guests' use (although they have free wireless internet access if you bring your laptop along). When I needed a computer to check my return flight times, they offered to check for me and also referred me up the street to the public library, which worked perfectly.
Venice is a wonderful mystery to us. How could such a charming, lovely spot on the Gulf not be ruined by over-commercialization? Instead, you can stroll across the street from the Inn and get a grilled cheese sandwich or a popsicle at the little snack bar at the beach, or walk less than a mile up the street to the historic district and eat lunch at the old fashioned Soda Fountain and shop in the quaint, local stores. The Crow's Nest, mentioned in other reviews, was wonderful too. It really is like stepping back in time. We certainly hope to return again soon.
