Probably used to be very nice A review of Blockade Runner
We just returned from one night at the Blockade Runner. I loved the decorating and the beautiful fresh flowers in the lobby. The location is perfect -- right on a nice wide part of the beach and a few blocks from the town's shops and restaurants. The pool is fine, but could use wider steps for younger swimmers. The pool sort of extends indoors and there are nice steps leading into the pool at that point. There is also a hot tub in that room. But, that area is dank and dark and cool -- not pleasant for swimming or hot tubbing. The room where we stayed was kind of dingy with the dirt of long use -- not due to lack of attention of the house keeping staff. The towels were the worst I have used since my Motel 6 days (thin, rough and small) The same was true (dinginess) of the resort in general. The food at the restaurant (buffet style with optional menu choices) was o.k. but very expensive ($25 per person for dinner). Kids under 6 ate free at the buffet, though. There is a beautiful spot to eat outside and when we were there eating our dinner and a storm was approaching the thoughtful wait staff hustled us in before the rain came down.
