Positive with some negatives A review of Hotel Heritage - Relais & Chateaux
We loved the location, the bed, the amenities, the service.
We also loved the new computers which they have in each room with wireless internet service. For this, when we arrived they charged us a Euro for two hours. We used four hours in our four days there, and, on the last night, we learned via a card on our keyboard, that they had quadrupled the rate. I thought the Euro for two hours was extremely reasonable, but to quadruple the rate the last night of a stay seems crazy. Grandfather in your current guests!
Breakfast was good, but hardly worth 15 Euros per person. A fully cooked breakfast was readily available at nearby restaurants for half of that price.
I was also perturbed by the last line on our bill--a line for a tip on your hotel bill! I am a great believer in tipping maids well, and do so every day. But to add a line for tips to the entire bill (our bill was 770 Euros--even a 10% tip would have been $100!) seems almost insulting. If they wish you to tip their excellent reception staff, perhaps a card in the room would be a way to do it--but how often do you tip the reception staff?
The room was the smallest of the four we stayed in on this trip.
Furthermore, the extra line for a tip is not printed on the bill but is mentioned on the credit card sales slip. Almost all credit card sales slips quote a line for a tip. Tipping staff is not an obligation but is only to show your appreciation of their service.
Is a buffet breakfast at 15 euros to expensive ? It depends on how much or little you eat and is very subjective.
