Positive Experience - would stay again A review of Hyatt Regency O'Hare
After staying in downtown Chicago for two nites, the Hyatt at O'Hare was selected due to a Sunday 8:15 am flight home. Travelling with two teenage boys 13, & 16 I was prepared for the worst after reading some of the reviews. Our room, with two double beds, was spacious and clean. A writing desk, single cup coffee maker, spacious bathroom and high quality furnishings were several steps up from a more costly downtown hotel. Booked on-line using Hyatt's non-refundable $69.70 rate, I was very pleased. Only concern would be the door to the balcony did not open, possibly on purpose. Also, to use the fitness center would be an additional $10 since using a discounted room rate.
Our next trip to Chicago, we are considering staying at the Hyatt and walking about 10 minutes to the Rosemont subway stop for the 45 minute ride into town. Other than the wasted time to/from town - for $40 savings compared to the downtown hotel, and much better quality accommodations, it is worth considering. From the airport shuttle we noticed a McDonald's probably 15 minute walk and a Giordano's pizza place at 9415 W. Higgins Rd in Rosemont a bit further, but our experience in town with this pizza chain was great. Hotel menu was very expensive, (as expected). My recommendation is to consider using this hotel for the first evening in Chicago and/or final evening before departing. Shuttle ride to the terminal in the morning was 5 minutes or less. This will certainly be our first choice next time.
