Poor customer service A review of BEST WESTERN View of Lake Powell Hotel
My partner and I stayed here in Aug 2004 figuring we'd spend more to enjoy waking to a peaceful lake view. We were booked into a top-floor room with a view of the parking lot (I reserved a lakeview room online), but were so tired and it was late (1 am) that we just wanted to get a good night's sleep. We were violently awakened at 6 am on Saturday by workboots and heavy equipment on the roof directly above our room. I called the front desk and was told "There's nothing we can do... we can move you to another room." The thundering noise continued continuously for the remainder of the morning (we left at 8 am because of the noise). I wrote a complaint to the management and was told that management didn't know that the workers would be there. (The workers' commercial truck was parked in the guest entrance area when we arrived the night before.) I anticipated a refund to my complaint given Best Western's failure of a promise of "a good night's sleep", but instead we were offered a free hotel room there on a future visit (no thanks!). My second letter of complaint was returned with "Address unknown - return to sender" - suspicious in such a small town. As a result of this experience, we suggest staying elsewhere in Page.
