Pleasantly Surprised A review of King George Palace
We had a flight at 2AM so we checked into King George for a day's rest. Therefore, this review will miss parts of a full-night stay experience. Nevertheless, we looked into everything since we just moved out of a not-so-nice 5-star hotel in the same city.
We requested for a room with Acropolis view. It was very nice, especially in the evening.
The room, though small, is outfitted luxuriously. The bed we had, (we were informed it would be 2 twins before confirming the reservation, which was fine since we were checking out by midnight.) It was surprisingly comfortable, the pillows, the blankets etc. We took a nap and it was a good rest.
The room has a writing desk and a chair. A flat-screen television sits on the desk as well. Plenty of work space even if you need to work on your laptop or write something.
Marbled bathroom (no shower) had all the necessary amenities, including bath robes and slippers. Nice and clean.
The lighting in the room was not as easy to figure out in the beginning... it has dimmer feature. It was a nice effect once we figured it out.
In the basement, there is an indoor "L" shape pool, and a square jacuzzi. The pool was warm and the jacuzzi was quite powerful. There is also a steam room and 3 shower rooms, as well as a well-equipped exercise room. The lady at the front was very nice.
We did not dine at Tudor Hall so no comments on the restaurant.
The front desk personnels were nice and professional. We did not encounter any negative experience, even though my husband was wearing shorts and I was just in jeans/t-shirt.
We paid 290 euros/night. We liked the location of King George much better than the hotel we stayed at prior. It is literally minutes away from Plaka and have plenty of restaurants/cafes to choose from. A very nice national garden to walk around across the street from the hotel. We would stay here again.
