Pleasantly surprised A review of The Holland Hotel
I was desperate to find a hotel in Jersey City for a weekend trip to NYC and could not afford to pay over $100 per night. The low price of the Holland Motor Lodge was very appealing, so I took a chance and booked for 2 nights. I must say that when I arrived, I was pretty pleased. The decor of the room isn't the world's most luxurious, but the room was very clean and the air conditioner worked perfectly during scorching hot late summer weather. I really liked the proximity to Newport Mall and to the Burger King, where I was able to grab a quick breakfast or snack before heading into NYC. I also liked its location near the Pavonia/Newport PATH station--it made for a smooth commute to and from NYC. The continental breakfast pastries were a little on the stale side, but I just shrugged it off. The cleanliness of the rooms, and the courteous staff will have me coming back. I've been recommending this place to anyone who asks for clean, inexpensive lodging in the NYC area.
