Pleasant Surprise! A review of Pelican Inn & Suites
Made reservations for the Sea Otter Inn about one week before stay in mid-April. At check-in the clerk said that they were full, and we had been bumped to the Pelican Suites just up the street at my reserved rate. He said it was an upgrade -- and I believe him! (and the posted rates were significantly higher than the Sea Otter).
The stay was top-class in all respects. They serve dessert in the evening, and a top-notch breakfast. The setting is very romantic -- more like a B&B atmosphere than a hotel. The room was large, but also cozy, with a fireplace, sofa, and other very fine furnishings.
But we may have been spoiled -- since I estimate that the Sea Otter rate that I paid is about $100 less per night than the going rate. Next time we surely won't be so lucky!
In short: Pricey, but you get your money's worth. Highly recommended.
