Pleasant Stay A review of Four Points by Sheraton Bakersfield

Having not stayed anywhere else in Bakersfield I have nothing to compare it to in town but on the whole this was a pleasant place to stay. Grounds are quite nice and well maintained. Pool is one of the bigger ones I've seen at a hotel in a while (plus it has an 8ft. deep end!). There is a "creek" flowing along one wing (600 block maybe?) and also a pond outside our room block (500). Rooms, albeit slightly dated, were clean and comfortable. No elevators but then again the buildings are only two stories. First floor rooms with courtyard views all seemed to have balconies. I would advise courtyard rooms to get the view as opposed to having to look/hear the parking lot. The room we had also had one of the best A/C units I've experienced in a hotel and I stayed plenty of places last year (MArriotts, Hyatt, Hilton, etc.). Very quiet, even when the a/c kicked on. While I am male I never got an "insecure" feel while on the grounds. There was one wing that attached to the lobby so if people are concerned about outside stairs, etc. they could request to have a room in that wing. Free continental breakfast was standard, plain fare. And there are a few places within a blocks distance of the hotel, including a 50'd style diner that had good bfast. If I have occassion to be in Bakersfield again I will stay there.
