Pleasant break with a toddler A review of Actons Hotel
Just had a reasonably priced 3 day break with a 2 year old, and would happlily choose to stay at the hotel again. Overall great place, with only one or two niggles. Staff were friendly & helpful, although I was disappointed that most were not even Irish. Public rooms and bedrooms were well presented and with good standard fittings - just been refurbished. We had a front facing 1st floor room which had lovely views over the harbour - didn't ask for it (or pay extra) so this was a nice, unexpected touch. Pool was great, bar and bar food OK. Dinner in the restaurant was good standard, but given that it is part of the good food circle, I hadn't expected a pretentious, laminated menu with no specials board (I was looking forward to a simply prepared catch of the day). Seafood platter (35 euros) was tasty but not enough of it. Breakfast was standard hotel fare. A toy corner would have been welcome too. Oh, but the town was mobbed, so the hotel car park was greatly appreciated!!
