Pine Tree Point-The "Last" Resort A review of Pine Tree Point Resort
After a 20 year absence, we returned to Thousand Islands this past July. we picked the Pine Tree Point Resort, based on its web site and a brochure. PTP is situated on a spot that offers great views of Boldt Castle, and the St Lawrence River.
That's about it! The place is run down, and tired. Some of the outdoor stairways are dangerous if you have small kids. The room carpeting is old and musty, ice machines didn't work. Oh yes, and the chip munk that visited us in our room the last day was an added but supprising feature. There was a one inch space under our door. Actually if Alvin had showed up 2 days earlier, I gaurantee it would have been a much shorter vacation. The place needs a complete renovation--no, a bulldozer.
If you do go to Thousand Islands, I recommend checking out the Riveredge in town. We had breakfast on their patio, the day we left. Really nice. It's 3 diamonds.
Also, take Uncle Sam's 3 hour boat tour, and stop off at Boldt castle. If you can operate a boat, rent one at Aquamania on RT 12. Other than that the region is pretty isolated. There are no fast food places or amusements for kids.
Now I realize why it took 20 years to go back.
