Pick the right cabin- great time! A review of The Redwoods in Yosemite
We visited the Redwoods in Yosemite in March 2004, end of Winter. The cabins really vary. They are all family/individual owned, the Redwoods group is the rental mgt firm, but the furniture, decore, etc, are all up to individual owners. I spent time on the phone before hand (very nice folks) reviewing different options: no pets, secluded as we have 3 loud little ones, two baths if possible, nice fireplace etc. They found the perfect cabin for us (Standard, 2 BD, 2 BA # 17), up a hill, nice flat yard, not right next door to another cabin (as many of them are close to each other). Not fancy, but clean, good space, 2 bedrooms and a nice fireplace. The kids loved it. We had deer in the back yard every AM and a nice view of the granet mtn and nice sunsets. Good/easy trek to nearby falls on the back side of the neighborhood, friendly folks at the front desk (came up with a huge load of wood when asked), great skiing for little ones at Badger. We'd go back, but every cabin is different, spend a lot of time with the pictures on the site and ask a lot of questions (and call back and ask them again of a 2nd res person). The gal I spoke with knew each cabin and she directed us to a great fit. Plan on going back in January, 45 mins to the valley sure, but the seclusion is nice, and the Redwoods on the Wawona side are great.
