Perfect stay!! A review of Super 8 North Bergen
This hotel was extremely clean! I was nervous at first because of my crawling baby but was greatly suprised. If traveling with young children (or not) I would recommend this hotel. The shuttle ($2) to NY picks you up at the front door of the hotel. But it drops you off at the corner and NOT in front of the hotel. But it is a short downhill walk back to the hotel and is stroller accessable. The only thing that the hotel could improve on is their continental breakfast. It was not much. Just juice/coffee and toast and donuts or snack cakes. But if you are on a budget you can make it work. We felt safe leaving our car there but they would NOT let us leave it there for more than 2 hours after we checked out. We had to go to a park and ride about 1 mile away ($9 for 2 people to park 1 car and ride to and from NY.) The front desk was not very friendly. Not rude just not overly friendly. Also they charge $5 a night for a fridge and $5 for a microwave. Our room did not automatically come with them. And to get the phone turned on it is a $20 deposit that you do get back (minus any long distance calls). The area around the hotel is mostly hispanic and the hotel is confusing to get to/from because it is facing a one way street. IHOP, grocery, coffee, Toys R'Us all close by. Those other North Begen hotels are all close by and don't look much different from the outside. Unless you need something this hotel does not have, staying here is a safe bet. 5 stars because of the price (weekday rates) and cleanliness and free parking. It was worth it to stay in NJ and not in a dump for a higher price, sharing a bath in NY.
