Perfect pre-cruise stay A review of Country Inns & Suites By Carlson, Cape Canaveral

We stayed here with our two children (7 and 5) the night before our cruise.

Check-in was quick - bellboy carts were readily available.

The decor is welcoming, almost home-like. There were cookies on the counter - a nice treat for the boys after 5 hrs of travelling.

Our room was clean - the kids had their own mini-bedroom (complete with half walls that were painted like a treasure map). The kids room slept three - there was a bunk bed and another single bed, a tv and a book/toy shelf.

A microwave, mini-fridge and table with four chairs was handy.

Our room looked on to the pool which was nice - rooms on the north side have a view of the ships (obscured - I'd rather have the pool)

The pool was a large free form - very clean. A deep hot tub with waterfall is right beside the pool (good for mom and dad while kids swam)- and the hot tub was HOT! a nice surprise for a hotel hot tub. There is also a mini-splash pool for very little ones but that water was cold!! (Feb). Oh - and there is a swamp behind the pool - I swear we saw a mini gator there! very exciting for us Canadians. Pool towels are out and waiting in the deck area. Fresh coffe was brewed in the self-serve kitchen throughout the day - they even had flavoured cream!! a big plus for me.

The continental breakfast was perfect for an excited family eager to get on the ship. There were protein bars, streudels, fruit, yogurt, toast, bagels, cereal, sausage or ham mcmuffins (nuke yourself) coffee, tea, juices... everything was plentiful and clean. The eating area was large and there were plenty of seats and tables.

Checkout was very quick. The attendant offered to mail us our slip so we didn't have to wait. The service at the front desk was exceptional, very friendly. The staff here talks to you like you are friends. I would highly recommend this hotel.

PS - this is the closest hotel to the port.
