Perfect Location, BEAUTIFUL HOTEL A review of Novotel Ieper Centrum
We stayed on 4th September 2006 for 3 nights!
OFFER: I managed to get this hotel on a '3 nights for the price of 2' , by searching through a few websites! Only £160 for 2 people, for 3 nights, including breakfast!
FLIGHT: We flew REALLY cheaply, by Ryanair -Dublin to Charleroi.
ARRIVE: At Charleroi 'Airport Ticket Desk'- we bought a ticket to Ypres (only 10.50 Euro each),
A Coach sits outside & leaves regularly for a 5min journey to Charleroi train station. We went downstairs and asked for times of the train to Ypres, they printed us out the jouney times etc (all spoke English well) We found the platform on the screen and caught the train! Journey time: 1hr 10mins, change once at Brussels Midi station.
ARRIVE AT YPRES (IEPER) station: Come out of the station and walk straight across the road, keep walking though the town (we asked someone here for directions with the hotel address), you will come to the most beautiful square. You can see The Menin Gate at the end of one of the streets into the square, just off to the right was the Hotel (signposted).
THE NOVOTEL HOTEL: Reception and dining area was open plan and modern. Staff polite, friendly and helpful. Our bedroom was quiet, big, modern, immaculately clean, kettle with tea and coffee. All our English channels on TV, there were even speakers through to the bathroom, which was spotless, modern with a fabulous shower/bath. Breakfast was a huge selection, a buffet of hot and cold food, cereals, fresh fruit, joghurts, sausages, bacon, scrambled egg, cold meats, cheese, and any amount of breads.
For travelling to different areas from the hotel, they can print you out clear, easy to follow details of trains, buses etc just for your destination.
We literally walked out of the hotel and turned right, (towards the square), at the end of the street turn right and we could see the Menin Gate! We were searching for more information on my grandfathers death in 1917, his name is on the Menin Gate. The Hotel was central to everything, cafes, shops, restaurants, tours, museum, we didn't want to leave! Book this hotel for a relaxing break in Ypres!
