Peaceful and relaxing.... A review of Stonewall Resort
My husband and I visited Stonewall Resort for four nights in May. I grew up in WV and have since moved away. The resort proved to be a little slice of heaven, just like West Virginia herself.
The resort seems to be more geared toward conferences, but they do have leisure visitors. The conference areas are huge, new and very nice.
The spa was small, but nice. We were there to relax, so I did a 3 hour session with a manicure, pedicure, facial and massage. The massage therapist was very good and the mani and pedi were great. I did not care for the facial. After having been to the Nemacolin Spa in Farmington, PA, this spa does not compare, but for WV and the prices, it was just what I needed!
My reason for not giving Stonewall 4 stars is the food. 1- They're over charging. 2- The food is just average. 3- Of the three different resaturants, they serve the EXACT same thing at 2 of them, and a small variation of the first 2 at the third restaurant. They did have a nice bar area with good drinks and the food wasn't horrible, just not enough of a selection and too overpriced.
We rented bikes, which was nice, but they need to label the trails better. We were going to go on a evening dinner cruise, but they didn't have enough people to go, so it was canceled. I think their season is not in full swing, so I'm sure the summer cruises regularly have enough to do them.
Overall, a great relaxing weekend and I would definately recommend Stonewall.
