Overall, Very dissapointed A review of Hilton Alexandria Old Town
This hotel is in a great location and within walking distance to many shops and restaurants on King Street. The indoor pool was nice if traveling with children and the fitness center was good. However, we were very dissapointed with the service at the Hilton and the outrageous fees for so many things. Parking is $18 a day, breakfast is not included as we had expected because other hilton owned hotels (Homewood, Hampton inn) usually have quite a nice free continental breakfast included. Breakfast at the Hilton was $15 for the buffet and it was the same all three days we were there. Our one bedroom suite did not even have a door on the bedroom which kind of defeats the purpose of paying for a one bedroom suite when traveling with children. Also, if we wanted a refrigerator in the room, it was $30 a day. This was the first time ever that we stayed in a one bedroom suite that didn't have some kind of kitchenette or at very least a small refrigerator which is necessary when traveling with small children. The volume on the TV ,in the living room, was not adjustable. I also found a previous guests' clothes in the night table which left me wondering whether housekeeping thoroughly cleaned the room. The concierge was not very helpful, seemed overwhelmed, very busy, and not very informative once you got his attention. Overall, we were very dissapointed with our stay and will probably stick to Hampton Inns or Homewood Suites in the future where you get more value, better service, and nicer accomodations.
