Overall nice place! A review of Wyndham Cleveland at Playhouse Square
Just came back from staying at the Wyndham. Classy looking place from outside, just as nice inside. The staff was great, very friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Once we made it to our room, we realized there was no fridge. Called down to the front desk, and had one delivered to our room within 15 minutes. King size bed was comfy. For most part room was clean. They forgot to empty coffee maker from previous guests, but it was one of those coffee filter packs, so no biggy. We were meeting some friends, so went to the bar for a couple drinks, good prices, plenty of beer to choose from. Bartender was quick to serve, even though it was starting to get packed from a wedding reception going on somewhere in the hotel. We weren't real familiar with the area, so asked one of the night time front desk staff where to go. He recommended the winking lizard 1 block away. Great place! Kindof like a sports bar atmosphere. Friendly people. St louis ribs by the bucket are the best. Though, I would buy some extra sauce, cuz it was soooo good. Didn't eat in the restaurant at the hotel, looked kind of pricey and not a very big selection. We went to the American chophouse in the warehouse district to eat also. Another great place.
Parking is available on the side street behind the hotel, cheapest if you can get a spot on the street. Otherwise, you can choose from the parking deck also located on side st for $9.00 per nite, or valet parking $20.00 plus tip. But you do get in and out priviledges, so if you plan on coming and going alot, that might be worth it. Ordered room service, food very good, but a little cold when it arrived. And they only brought it on a tray, so we really had no place to sit and eat. Plus, I gave a $5.00 tip for a $13.00 meal, and was very surprised when I got the bill at checkout that it showed a room delivery charge and tip had been added to the bill without my knowledge. Oh well, live and learn. Would recommend this hotel and will most likely stay there again when I come back. Oh, for all you coffee lovers, Starbucks is right down the road as well, 1 block. Plus a nice little cafe across the street from there, where we had a cheap, but good breakfast. ($8.00 for two).
