Over-priced budget hotel A review of Rodeway Inn
Stayed here in August 2001 and May 2004. Motor inn layout, single-storey, free parking, rose bushes around carpark. High-security reception - hotel manager hides behind glass window. Have to pay in advance every day. 10min walk to BART station (access to San Francisco, SFO airport). 30min walk to fringe of UC Berkeley campus. Thai restaurant at entrance, Andronico supermarket across the street University Avenue. Several hotels in vicinity (Capri, Holiday Inn Express, Travelodge, University Inn, Campus). Old, needs renovations, provides only bare room, soap and towel. Bathroom floor extremely slippery when wet. No airconditioner or other amenities. Noise of train from rear. Paid $65 (incl. tax) per night - overpriced. Probably the only hotel with drop-in vacancy during UC Berkeley's starting of academic year and Commencement. If you want a better hotel during these periods, book the other hotels at least 1 month in advance.
