One Nightmare After Another - BEWARE A review of Ramada Plaza Richmond West

My family had booked a room at this hotel for an upcoming sports event. We called ahead to verify or reservation for a non smoking double. When we arrived the lobby was packed with guests upset that they were given smoking rooms when they reserved non smoking. When it was our turn at the desk, we were told that altough we had reserved non smoking double - we would be getting a SMOKING KING! When I asked how this could be - the front desk associate informed us that the hotel was oversold and that we would have to take the king and a rollaway. No appology offered to us or any of the other families. This was the first problem. Dirty soiled linen was on the one bed that we did have. Second problem. The first night children ran wildly thru the hotel. NO SECURITY. Third problem. The next day we returned to our room to find we had no towels. As it turned out, the entire hotel was out of towels, YES THE ENTIRE HOTEL. We got towels at 10:20 that NIGHT!! Fourth problem. Internet service was down all weekend!! Very upsetting for my husband who needed to keep up with work back home. Front desk staff said this happen often. Fifth problem. Our room, we were moved after the dirty sheets issue, was in the tower building were only one elevator was working. Sixth problem. I could not help but to feel sorry for the people working the front desk. The entire hotel was in a uproar about one issue or another. Clearly this hotel lacks proper management. However I will say that the desk staff did the best they could with what they had to work with since non of the issues appeared to be within thier control. Next time we will stay at one of the newer hotels in the west end of the city.
