Old resort, but great spa! A review of Abbey Resort & Spa

My husband and parents decided to spend a day at the Spa, so we booked 2 rooms at the resort as weel to make a weekend out of it. The spa itself was wonderful - the pool area was beautiful; it was in a seasonal room -type set-up, and you were competely surrounded by full-view windows. THw pool was very large, although not many people swaimming. The fee at the time we went for the spa was $20/pp, and that gave in and out rights for that day. They gave you a locker, shoes, a plush robe, use of the pools, hot tub, suana, steam room, and fruit and juice/water. Ther were other spa services offered, of course at separate prices. I had a brow wax done also. It was extremely relaxing, and there are no children allowed, which makes it nice for those of us who don't have children. They serve a healthy pool-side lunch, but there was a charge of $15/pp for that.

Now, the rooms themselves were pretty dumpy. It is an old resort whose hayday has passed, and eveything seemed to be falling apart. The bathroom was old, and the sliding glass door leading outside did not properly open or close. It was a place to crash, but nowhere I would stay if I had to stay in the room for a good amount of time.

They did have a killer Sunday Champaigne Brunch though, which I would highly recommend. Overall, go for the spa, skip the rooms.
