Old hotel on busy street....water problems...but was clean! A review of Newport Beach Hotel & Suites
I am planning another trip back to Newport for the weekend, and came across the reviews for this place. I stayed here the weekend before Christmas in 2003. It was not at all what I expected. The hotel is pictured as though it is beachfront...this is not the case! It is across from a very busy street, and then there is a public parking lot, and THEN the beach!
My husband and I stayed in a jacuzzi room, and it looked really great when we got there..the room was a good size and it was very clean. Then we attempted to fill the jacuzzi and there was slightly brown-tinted water coming out. Same with the shower! When we called down to the desk, we were told to let it run for 10 minutes first. By this time, the water was barely warm, and still had tints of brown. We had to let it run a solid 20 minutes before it was clear enough to shower. I was not comfortable sitting in the jacuzzi... the collection of that much water showed the brown even more!
We had booked with Priceline - so we were stuck with the room. I would NEVER stay here again. The room itself wasn't that bad -it was very clean, and breakfast was a nice touch, but the brown water isn't something I would want to deal with again.
