OK Waterpark; Horrible Hotel A review of Six Flags Great Escape Lodge & Indoor Waterpark
We had so looked forward to this trip! On arrival, we couldn't find a bellman and then had to wait in a 50 person line to check in. We couldn't find a parking spot, so opted to valet park our vehicle. There were no signs posted regarding the price of the parking and we were horrified when presented with the bill. Our room was very noisy, actually intolerable. The wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling and the TV's didn't work! The pillows were nice, but the beds uncomfortable. I found all of this surprising in a new facility, especially the noise (we took to wearing ear plugs when we went to bed)!! The waterpark was OK but don't bring children over the age of 7 as they will be bored. Also, there were not enough chairs or tubes in the park. Surprisingly, the food was exceptional. We ate in each restaurant and also tremendously enjoyed our room service delivery. On the 2nd day of our stay the room was never made up. When I called to ask about this, I was treated rudely. When I went to the front desk to complain about the noise level in the rooms (after making numerous calls), I was "chewed out" in front of my children and the 50 people waiting in line. My final bill was incorrect. The room rate that I had been quoted for my 3rd night was $189 US; I was charged $331. It took me 3 hours to clear this up. My overall impression was that the hotel staff just didn't care. We were a captive audience and yes, the waterpark is OK. We will never return and will try a large indoor water park next year.
