OK--but get a room on the second floor A review of The Tamarind Club
Overall this was an OK place to stay for a night or two. My husband and I stayed for one night before catching a plane out the next day. The hotel is very convenient to the airport.-The staff are friendly and accommodating, the pool is a great place to cool off on hot days, and the continental breakfast is a very nice touch. -The room was a little worn but clean. Which, in general, sums up the hotel. The pool while large is clearly older and could use some attention. There were also no amenities except bar soap and a towelI had hoped for shampoo at least.-There were two negatives. When we asked about a key we were told they would give us one if we wanted, but that someone was always around and our stuff would be safe. When we looked closer at our room we realized there was no way to lock the rear entrance to the room we stayed in anyway. While I know Tortola is a safe island I still would have liked to have been able to control access to my room. Especially given that the back door was easily approached from a driveway without going through the hotel courtyard. The second negative was the thin curtain on the front door (the doors were both patio doors) and the light right outside that door that stayed on all nightmaking a restful nights sleep impossible.I would stay there again in a similar situationbut I would request a room on the second floor with no rear entrance and a thicker door curtain.
