Nothing special - overpriced - cabins need overhaul A review of Kaibab Lodge
The good - Owner & most staff were friendly - the lodge itself (which housed the registration desk, restaraunt, gift shop, and a sitting area was fine. The setting is in a nice meadow-like area.
The okay - Food in the restaraunt was okay, nothing special.
The bad - Not happy about automatically having to pay a 15% gratuity to serve a group of 6 or more (this is a family - not exactly a "large group" - the service we received definitely wasn't worthy of a 15% tip). Cabin seemed clean, but was crowded & cheaply furnished. The kids all wanted to sleep in the bunk beds before we got there - were fighting about who DIDN'T have to sleep in them once they laid in them. We had no problem with having no tv or radio - but the lodging was way overpriced for what you got. I would stay at the Grand Canyon rim if possible - while their cabins were nothing fancy, they had a little character (they were real log cabins) - not a shed with interior drywall walls. While I wouldn't rate the place "Terrible", "Okay but some problems" is probably being generous.
