Nothing but praise for this hotel. A review of Sofitel Brussels Le Louise
We stayed for a long weekend arriving on Friday at 10am, were given our room (plus a welcome complementary coffee) straight away and allowed to keep it until way after normal check-out time the following Monday. It was just as we had requested - quiet, on a high floor with good view (of the garden), spacious and non-smoking.
Our room was a good size for 2, restful, pleasing decor with watercolours of Brussels' old buildings, rather fun curtains with hot-air balloon pattern, plently of storage space and a safe. The very clean bathroom was white and terracotta with a good shower and large bath.
The bed was the most comfortable we have ever had in a hotel: firm and supportive with a soft feather overlay to sink into, four plump down pillows and duvet and all encased in fine pure white cotton. Bliss! Breakfast (luckily for us included in the price) was high quality and prettily served in very pleasant surroundings.
The lack of a restaurant in the hotel was no problem; there are dozens within 10 minutes' walk to suit all budgets from Quick hamburgers to extremely upmarket places. Our personal favorite was the brasserie L'Ultime Atom, rue St Boniface, for its inventive Belgian menu (main courses around 12 euros) and relaxed atmosphere - Belgo Belge close by was also good.
The hotel's position was ideal for us: 3 stops on the Metro from the Eurostar terminal then 3 minutes' walk. It's a very enjoyable 20 minutes' walk to the Grand Place passing beautiful buildings, little parks and squares and about 10 minutes to major art galleries and museums.
The reception staff were always pleasant, very helpful and attentive without being at all intrusive. We shall certainly return, if not earlier, then to do more shopping in the excellent January sales again next year!
