Not Worth the Trip, Travelers to Las Vegas A review of Doubletree Hotel JFK Airport

The hotel just changed names, from the Raddison to Double Tree. This may explain a few things. We did receive the complementary cookies upon check in, but the front desk staff appeared to be ready to call it a day. Meaning tired and disinterested in a one-on-one client involvement. The man who took our bags to our room was most pleasant and helpful.

Even though the bed was comfortable the room was not up to the level of standards you would expect of a Raddison or Double Tree. When you are paying over $150. per night, it's the simple things that matter sometimes. There was no toilet paper roll, just the roll. No facial tissues or alarm clock. You needed to call the front desk for a wake up call. Carpeting stained and shreaded in spots. The air conditioning in the room was noisey and there was none on the floors or in the elevators. Apparantly they were cutting back.

When I originally booked the hotel, I noticed there was a restaurant listed as on premises. This "restaurant" is only a glorified coffee shop. I knew why there was only one waitress on duty, because of the excessive prices, very few people were there. $15.00 hamburgers and $30.00 steaks would be a menu item at a Ritz not a coffee shop at an airport hotel. Most of the conversations I overheard were from people asking for pizza and Chinese take out.

Then breakfast the next morning was a $14.95 per person buffet that consisted of eggs, hot and cold cereal, muffins, juice and coffee. Courtyard by Marriot has the exact same breakfast as complimentary. Very few people took advantage of this. Most just opted for just coffee and left. But being close to the airport, they had a captive audience.

My husband and I stayed there only one night, but I would not recommend this hotel. There are many more hotels in the general area that will give you the same amenities at a more reasonable price. The new management needs a wake-up call. People want great service, clean accommodations good value. This hotel is lacking. Find another place.
