Not worth the rates A review of Hyatt Regency Crystal City
It's older than it looks on the web-site. The air conditioner in my room was not working; it didn't cool past a balmy 80 (in November). The shower had moldy tile and a dripping faucet. Hairs of unknown origin in the bed sheets. Room service was good however, the menu was limited and has items on it that they don't serve and never have. A fire alarm went off a few floors below me, but not on my floor (which is a little disturbing), this caused the elevators to stop running and, as I was departing, I was invited by hotel staff to take the stairs with my luggage. They had unfriendly concierge service and front desk service, which I find incredible. And the staff who handle the room reservations (we had a block for 15 people) were easily confused by the smallest change and accidentally canceled one room when specifically told not to. They did have a nice low calorie menu in room service and one of the rooms in our reservation block had a view of the White House.
Overall it was certainly not worth the rate they charge. Maybe $75 depending on your room.
