Not worth the money A review of La Quinta Resort & Club, A Waldorf Astoria Resort
We were in the Palm Springs area for 8 days, our 3rd trip to this destination. We split our stay with 4 days in downtown Palm Springs, 2 days in Palm Desert and 2 days at La Quinta. The grounds are pretty but huge. Everything is very expensive- the food, the spa services, the golf. You can get the exact same tee times for about 25-30% less by booking through a tee time service. The hotel actually charges you more being a guest and booking your tee times through the hotel. The pro shop could care less. I had a facial that was very nice but it cost $120. I could get the same facial at home with the same products for $75 and for about $90 at other spas in the area. The spa is not that nice with no outdoor pool, no plunge pool and only one steam room. We ate at the adobe grill. The food and service were good but dinner for 2 at a mexican restaurant should not cost $150. We had some problems getting a room at check in and then our room did not have working air conditioning. I had to call twice to have it fixed. We only had decaf coffee in the room and you are charged $15 a day for this coffee, a paper, the fitness center and a tip for the maids. The bathhroom was very nice but the water pressure in the shower was awful. My expectations are high for a hotel that is charging $350 per night and this hotel did not meet my expectations. If you do not care about cost and have not been anywhere else in the area, the resort is nice. I will not stay there again. I have decided to forget the big resotrs and try to find small quaint properties.
