Not what I expected A review of Marriott San Antonio Riverwalk

I stayed at the Marriott Riverwalk Hotel, which is on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. The positive thing was that the view from our room and balcony was beautiful, although there was no screen for the sliding glass door, so could not get the fresh breeze w/o all the insects. I was really disappointed in the hotel otherwise. This was suppose to be a 4 star hotel, I didn't find it any nicer than any 1 or 2 stars that I had stayed in. The room was small. The Bathroom was horrible - small, old and horribly lit. It did not have lights over the mirror but instead candle looking lamps with shades to the side of the mirror...couldn't see well at all with the golden glow the lights put out...esp. to apply makeup. There was no frig or microwave, which I didn't expect but do not understand why the hotel would not have it - esp. at those prices. You couldn't get bottled water from a vending machine unless you went to the 7th floor where the pool was...I was shocked. There was one vending machine (pepsi) on our floor..every selection sold out. Room service wanted $2.25 can of pepsi, $2.85 for coke. I couldn't believe that bottled water wasn't more available esp. in this day and age when everyone is drinking it.Another reason that I chose the hotel was because it had a pool..I love to be out in the sun and swim...but couldn't here - only 3ft. of the pool was outside..the rest of it was indoors connected.Needless to say I was very disappointed...esp. for the money I had to pay - with 17% taxes and $14 per day to park - it was $364 for 2 nights!
