Not the way it used to be A review of Wilson Lodge at Oglebay Resort & Conference Center
I grew up in Oglebay Park and I loved every minute of it. The park and the lodge and the old cabins were the best thing in the park. My first job was at the Parb 3 and then the lodge. My mother and my sisters worked there with great pride. The only thing now is that the park was left for the benefit of the city of Wheeling and now the prices are so high that they are trying to compete with the high priced lodges and parks. This is not a place for the people of Wheeling anymore . Colonel Oglebay left it this way and if some things don't change the park will not be history anymore. You tore down the old cabins to make way for the new when some should have been left. You also got rid of the Caddy Camp on the old back road which is where my husband went and learned his love for golf. You need to bring back the old for those of us who remember when it was the best. The Par 3 in the winter with the skiing and the food and the smell of the fireplace was heaven and now it is nothing but a shell where memories once were made. I lived and breathed that park and now as I drive through the picnic sites are empty, Caddy Camp is empty and the juke box is gone fron the Pine Room. Restore it the way it was. Some things are better left alone for the people to love and enjoy.
