Not the romantic evening we wanted.... A review of Anchorage Inns & Suites
I was recently a guest at the Anchorage Inn & Suites at their Portsmouth NH location. My Fiance made our reservations through Hotels, which was probably a bad idea. One of the main reasons we chose this hotel was because they have an indoor swimming pool and whirlpool suites. See at the time of our visit I was 8 months pregnant and really looked forward to having a nice swim and then later a relaxing bath in our room. This was meant to be a romantic night away from our toddler before the arrival of our second baby, but it was not. When we arrived at the hotel we learned that the pool was broken, a hole or something, and then to make things worse, our room was not a whirlpool suite. We tried to upgrade, and at first the woman said we could not because we had booked through Hotels, she then said that she would do it, but we would have to put it on our credit card. We were all set to do this when she then informed us that we would need a 200.00 cash deposit as well. Well it was after 5 pm, and there was no way we could get any cash, so we tried to see if they could make some sort of compromise, since the pool was broken, and I could not use the hot tub. The lady was insistant on the deposit. My fiance wanted to cancel the reservation and go somewhere else, but because of the pesky Hotels thing, we would not be reimbursed by the hotel, but buy the website, and it would take a few days. So we ended up staying at the Anchorage, but we were rather disappointed. I definately reccomend calling to make your reservations, and ask if the annemities are all in working order.
