Not the best A review of Loews Coronado Bay Resort
I wish I could say that I was as enamored with this place as other reviewers have been.We arrived on a Sunday and found our reservations had been messed up (one room when I had paid for two) and we could not get into our rooms at the guaranteed time. Also the check in lines took a half hour which gave me plenty of time to listen to other guests stories of their problems with the hotel staff. Not a good start! When we finally got our room situation straightened out my teens hurried to change and go to the pool. The kids pool was so dirty they refused to swim in it. The family pool was only marginally better. The only pool in decent condition was the adult pool.I was much happier with our room. It was a nice size with a huge bath. The balcony had a beautiful view. The room was clean and made up promptly in the mornings. If you are a late sleeper be sure and put your Do Not Disturb sign out though because the staff came by at 8-8:30 every morning. We found the concierge staff to be unhelpful. Many of the hotels programs do not run on Monday. There is a public shuttle that runs into Coronado for $1. I would stay in Coronado if you want more things to other than just hang out at the resort. It is healthy hike or a drive to get anywhere from this location. Parking at the resort is expensive. Also be aware that Loews not only loves kids they love pets. If you have allergies or arent fond of animals this might be a problem for you. I saw small and large dogs stretched across the sofas in the lobby and laying in the restaurants. There were dogs in the elevators and barking from balconies. This just seems like something people might want to know before they book a room.I think the wait staff in the restaurants were far and away the most pleasant and helpful at this hotel. The food was excellent and the portions more than could be eaten by one person. As beautiful as this hotels location and grounds were I dont think I would ever stay there again.
