Not that bad - served its purpose A review of InterContinental at Doral Miami

I stayed in this hotel the night before a cruise and it served its purpose as a stop over. We went for a walk in the morning and there is absolutely nothing around this hotel so I wouldnt recommend it for tourists. The price was included as part of our cruise package so I have no idea how much it cost so I cant comment on value for money. When we checked in the fire alarm was going off constantly which was quite annoying - the hotel staff said it had been like that all day ! Check in was quick and the porters brought our luggage to our room very quickly, however we did arrive on a coach from the airport in a large group so they were expecting us. We thought the room was lovely and clean, very big and spacious and we were impressed. We had a drink in the bar the night before which was very pleasant, nice surroundings and polite staff. We found it hard (being British) getting to grips with the tipping etiquette in America and we noticed in this hotel the tip was included each time we bought a drink but there was also a space on the receipt asking for a further tip.

I agree with a previous reviewer who said the pool was dirty. We walked round the grounds in the morning and noticed this too.

All in all I dont think the hotel was as terrible as some people have made out but I suppose it depends on the purpose for staying here.
