Not That Bad.... Good Stay A review of Hyatt Regency Crystal City
I read the previous reviews before I went on my weekend tourist trip (Friday - Monday) and to say I was a bit apprehensive was an understatement; thankfully, it wasn't bad at all!!
I arrived on Friday night & left Monday morning; check-in/out took less than 10 minutes each time. I got a decent rate ($70/a night) through Priceline. The room was your standard hotel room; a non-smoking room w/a king size bed on the 15th floor. I did register for the Gold Passport program with Hyatt; not sure if that helped me get better service and/or a better room but I was satisfied.
Let me just say that I can be very pick regarding my bedding and I had no issues with the mattress/pillows. We slept very well and I barely saw anyone on my floor & didn't hear a thing the 3 nights I was there. Also, I thought the bathrooms and carpeting were just fine! I do agree that the breakfast stand was expensive; we got a bagel w/cream cheese, a cup of coffee, a Snapple iced tea & a chocolate crossaint (sp) that 1st morning & were charged $12. Needless to say... we didn't do that again!
BTW, there is an alternative to PARKING at the Hyatt!!!! We spoke to one of the valets and he suggested an inexpensive option; there is a parking lot right before the Hyatt called PMI. The daily rate for parking on weekends was $5 a day and $11 during the week; one just has to pre-pay. I had absolutely no issues with my car (2004)!
I also found the shuttle for the metro left about 5-7 minutes after they advertised however they were always at the Metro for drop off/pick-up within 10 minutes of their scheduled time.
We didn't check out the on-site bars/restaurants at the hotel; instead, we checked out the restaurants in the area. There's a restaurant around the corner from Chili's/Legal Sea Foods called MACKEY's. We had a great time there, good food and the staff was very attentive.
All in all, the hotel stay was just that! No issues with housekeeping or customer care; Concierge and valet were very approachable and informative.
