Not so different from a Holiday Inn A review of Ritz-Carlton Marina del Rey

I've just returned from 2 nights at the Ritz in Marina Del Rey. My husband was there for a business meeting. I should preface this by saying this is a nice hotel. The lobby is lovely as is the pool area and restaurant. Yet, for the money it's not as good as it should be.

Our room was ok, it was actually rather small, they are all basically the same size, we could hear the phone ringing in the room next door, our room was not so clean (old toothpick in the bathroom, spare change on the carpet under the writing desk) and the room was a bit threadbare. The linens were a little tired and the carpet worn and stained. Also the way the hotel is physically situated most rooms have partial views of the harbor and mostly of the driveway or the pool area. It's ok, but it's not what I think of for the Ritz at $300/night.

On the positive side they do have a nice workout room, refreshments at the poolside and tasty iced tea in the lobby in the afternoon -- heck you should get something for the money, right? Also, we had dinner in Jerne the restaurant and enjoyed our meals immensely. Thus, this hotel would not be my first choice when staying again in LA, it's really a dressed up Holiday Inn but we did have a nice time there; it just was not world class.
