Not quite what we were expecting A review of Hilton St Petersburg Bayfront

After staying in various hotels in various parts of the USA, this hotel came as a little of a surprise. Firslt it's in a way one system which is a little confusing. Also no one told us, it was valet parking only, with a $10 per night charge. The room was adequate and had all the usual amenties (hairdryer etc.) in the room. It was also fairly clean, the only probelm being the maids started fairly early in the morning, so remeber the "DO NOT DISTRUB" sign, if you don't want to rise before 10 am. We used Room service once, which arrived at the stated time, but the food could have been a little hotter. The hotel staff were all very friendly, expect for the restaurant staff who all looked quite gloomy. The restaurant had a limited menu at high prices. Because of the hotels location in the middle of a fairly urban area, you either had to eat in the restaurant, use the Pizza Express (which was excellent!) in the lobby or get in your car and drive. As my husband had to be admitted to hospital, I found my self a bit stranded. The bell hops were very helpful, but when asked to call a cab, called the must run-down cabs you have ever seen! All in all, a nice hotal for business travaller, but not as a good vacation hotel.
