Not many choices in Springfield, is the problem... A review of President Abraham Lincoln Hotel & Confernece Center
The problem is that there are only 2 really known hotels to pick from... The Hilton and the Marriott.
We did not go into the Hilton, so I cannot compare, but they are directly across the street from each other.
The Marriott... I called in advance to the hotel itself to make sure that we got a room with a good view of the capitol, as well as NO feather anything in the room due to severe feather allergies. Well, we got a crappy view, and the pillows had feathers.
We called down, got a room change (the hotel was not full, so they had rooms available to change us to. We got an okay room. It looked moderately clean, but is in need of an update.
Our sheets had holes, and the mattress cover on the full size bed was for a twin size bed! I had to call housekeeping and get a full-size pad then make the bed myself. The mattresses are saggy. They sag without anyone in them, so be prepared for an achy back!
Not enough towels. 3 large towels was all they supply and one tiny bottle of shampoo and conditioner. I called housekeeping and requested the additional towels, but they never came. I called again, and finally they came. I also requested more shampoo & conditioner, but they never came!! 4 people, one small bottle of conditioner for our entire stay!
Bathtub was slippery (again a problem due to the fact that the hotel needs a renovation) and my 9 yr old slipped and fell in the shower cutting his toe!
Lindsay restaurant breakfast buffet sucks!!!! SUCKS!! The service is friendly, but the food is better at McDonalds.
The town is scary, itself. Lots of homeless and you can see that the town is not one to go out in at night. Marriott, luckily, has a nice pool, but it is in a secluded spot, so if there were ever any problems, or an emergency... good luck. But it was clean. The health club room is smaller, but okay. It's free.
