Not 'grand', but works A review of Grand Vista Hotel

Stayed here on business for four nights in May '05. Hotel is 1 minute from freeway and gives easy access to Simi Valley grid of sequential strip malls. Room was fine - king bed, desk, sofa. Some minor quirks - bathroom door won't stay open, AC/heat unit rather loud, TV doesn't swivel (and thus doesn't face sofa). But all in all no problems. Hotel has a sports bar and breakfast was included in rate (though I wasn't able to try it so can't comment). Fitness center small but adequate for stair machine-type workout. Service was friendly after late check-in. What makes the place above average, really, was cost, which was well under $100/night on Hotwire. The place is certainly better value for money than the Holiday Inn express (where I've also stayed) and which is in the same ballpark in terms of room size, furnishings, etc. (As that suggests, the Grand Vista really isn't grand. But it does have a nice vista.)
