Not for that price A review of BEST WESTERN Ft. Walton Beachfront
Stayed at this hotel last August (Aug 2002) for my 4 year old daughter's first trip to the beach. At $140 a night I expected much more! The elevator was very hot and stuffy. The desk staff was not exactly up to speed. There was only 1 washer and dryer for the entire hotel adn they were almost blanketed in sand. I only used teh dryer to get the worst of the damp out of our swimsuits before the trek home.
The room was only average although the housekeeping staff did do a really good job (that was the hotel's main saving grace). The beach view was nice but the non-smoking floor was the 4th floor and the restrooms downstairs was not an option so it was quite a trek from the beach back to the bathroom. Also, the parking was awful and the drive up entrance shelter had numerous ceiling panels missing and I wasn't quite sure if the hanging wires had electricity in them or not but it was nervewracking walking under them.
I'm headed to the beach again this year but the Best Western is definately off my list! I'm staying just down the road in a very reputable resort with beach view for only $85 a night and they actually have a restaurant on the premises instead of the cold cereal breakfast the Best Western offered.
