Noise and hype A review of The Crescent
When I stayed there 5 years ago, I really liked the place with its Miami Beach hotel feel and free snacks and fruit juices in the morning and I decided to return in January 2004.
New owners had upgraded the place with outdoor tables instead of the lush vegetation. The hotel lobby had been turned into a sort of lounge with hispters sipping expensive drinks from the kitchen cum bar.
First problem, when you return to your bedroom at night, you must go past half drunken hot things who block the lobby cum lounge and the stairs to the upstairs rooms.
Second problem. the music is loud and awful and if you don' t want to spend a few nights in a nightclub, I would avoid the place at all cost. The lobby employee at night has to keep people for resting their glasses on his counter. Not an intelligent solution.
The location is great and safe in Bevely Hills and one can walk to the farmer' s market on Sunday and to the many cafes and boutiques on Rodeo Drive but, next time, I am staying at the Hotel Bamboo in the Hollywood Hills. It is sheltered and quiet.
