No escape from heat A review of Casa Del Mar Beachfront Suites
No Escape From the HeatProblems do happen and I would expect a hotel such as Casa Del Mar to take responsibilty for the comfort of their paying guest!! When we realized our A.C. did not function in our room it was 9:oop.m. Called front desk who said maintenance crew was gone and would bring fans. Fans arrived 45 mins. later as we sweated in our $100.00 room. A clerk and security guard brought the fans and told us that we might could repack our stuff and 4 tired hot kids at 11 p.m. if another room was available. I told them that was not possible, the security guard raised his voice and the other man said the hotel would make it right for us. We had to pay full price for a hot room where we could not sleep even after we had 2 loud fans that kept us up till 3 a.m. until I turned them off in order to sleep a little. The manager not only gave no discount for a malfuntioning room but insulted me for being angry at my experience and tacked on $30.00 extra because she accused us of being a party of 7 instead of 4 when my reservations were for 6 people. When I tried to explain about a visitor one day to our room she took off only $25.00 from our bill and left $5.00 for a visitor coming in the room while we showered. I can only take it up with my credit card company because the manager has the power to charge what ever she desires since she had my credit card number. I feel helpless and highly insulted by the manager of Casa Del Mar on this, our 11th annual trip to Galveston Texas. We were hot in our room and hot under the collar by the treatment we recieved as they feel free to take my money because they had my credit card number. The customer lost and the hotel made sure it didnt lose a penney and even stole $5.00 on top of it!! the customer is not always right at Casa Del Mar-the manager is always right so becareful that you behave and dont demand A.C. if they happen to put you in a room with lack of maintenance because you will pay for thier mistakes .
