Nickle and Dimed A review of Hounds Tooth Inn
We booked the "Summer Cottage" for a romantic getaway to Yosemite. While the inside of the cottage was beautiful with a top-notch spa tub, comfortable bed, dual head shower and nice sitting area, I just didn't feel like we got the service there that we have had at other bed and breakfasts. I don't want the innkeepers to act cheap when I am paying $200+ for a room. First you have to sign a waiver stating that you won't use rose petals or candles in the room or you pay a $200 cleaning fee. Then we wanted to watch one of the videos in their library, for which they wanted an extra $1 rental fee. Then I noticed that you are not allowed to take red wine back into the rooms, and if you do spill it, they will charge you $100. Breakfast is very average "continental" self-serve fare, more like what you get at a chain hotel than most bed and breakfasts. Finally, when you pay your bill, there is a $5 per day energy surcharge tacked on TOP of the normal room rate and taxes. I don't know what the other accommodations in the area are like, but I would say that the Hound's Tooth offers excellent accommodations with only mediocre service.
