Nicely located, needs renovation of spa and rooms A review of Ponte Vedra Inn & Club
For a five star hotel, I expect fabulous service which we received at times but also well maintained rooms. The screens were dented, the porch hasn't been powerwashed in years and during Hurricane Charley, water came under the door and soaked the carpet (on the second floor).
The spa desk staff is inexperienced and clueless. The spa facilities are terribly outdated and jacuzzi was cold. Not a good feeling knowing that someone else was in it just before you. Magazines on waiting room table are year old. Coffee was cold as was tea water, but for $4 you could buy a power bar. I would be happy with some water. Gratuity is immediately added to spa service so the staff does a so- so job.
Breakfast was cold, waitress was rather rude asking where my hotel charge card was or I guess I don't ge breakfast even if I paid cash. Front desk, gift shop, and bellman were all very friendly. All in all, experience was equal to a Marriott Courtyard stay. Expect to pay additional for gym use, resort fee and whatever else can be tacked on without you realizing and complaining about it.
Beach is beautiful as is golf course. Watch what type of room you reserve. There is a big difference between ocean view, ocean front and oceanside. Make sure you ask or you will be disappointed.
Lots of shopping and nice restaurants nearby (outside of resort). Thank goodness because hotel's restaurants are pricey and not that great!
