Nice spa, lousy rooms, rude service A review of Ojai Valley Inn & Spa
The spa is fabulous and the treatments are wonderful. The guest rooms are awful! They feel like a mid level hotel chain. We even booked a suite 3 out of our 5 stays and it wasn't much better. Also, they allow dogs for a fee, which is great except they make you feel like a second class citizen for bringing the pooches along. The last time I stayed there my husband and I checked in and left an hour later. I requested a bright, quiet room near the spa that was on the top floor. We had problems with people stomping around above us every time we were guests. So, we were given a room on the bottom floor in a building that was being remodelled. When I called to switch rooms the room manager got on the line and read to me each and every complaint I had ever had in the many years we had been staying there. They had a history on us and he informed me that we were flagged as "problem guests". OK, so I complained about noisy guests and fireplces that didn't work and our alarm clock that went off at 5am because the housekeeper didn't check it from the previous guest. But- the manager was so condescending and arrogant about it. You'd think that staying at a place 5 times in less than 2 years would mean something to a hotel.
