Nice rooms, lacking in customer service A review of Delray Beach Marriott

I just came back from a one night stay at the Delray Beach Marriott. I booked a partial oceanview room with rate code BXR. This rate code is supposed to include a free movie rental, free breakfast buffet for 2, free valet parking and 2 free cappucinos. When I checked in at the front desk, the clerk handed me my key with a comment of " Room XXX, partial oceanview, just as you requested". When I inquired about the rate code that I booked with, he had no clue what I was talking about. The rate was correct, but he knew nothing about any of the "extras" and assured me that everything would be settled in the morning. He indicated that he had no way of finding out what was included in this rate code. I wasn't too pleased.

I proceeded to my room and was pleasantly surprised. The toom had a nice, clean fresh smell. Extra pillows were on the bed. Comfy beds. A/C worked great. The bathroom was immaculate and done in marble. I am very picky when it comes to cleanliness in hotel rooms and this room was very clean. The view was so-so. I got what I paid for - partial ocean view with a view overlooking the pool. Very tropical feel to the place. There was a wedding going on the evening that I was there.

I decided that I would rent a movie on pay per view ( $12.95) that was supposed to be included in the rate code. Before I did so, I decided to try to straighten everything out again one more time. I called the front desk and a gal answered the phone. She too had no idea what was included in this rate code. She stated that she would need to talk with her manager and then she would call me back. She called me back within 5 minutes and explained that the rate code was new to them and they were unfamiliar with it. However, she explained that the valet parking and pay per view movie would be billed to my room and then credited back in the morning. She stated everything was noted on my reservation and I should have no problem in the morning. I felt satisfied.

Morning came and when I checked out, of course there was someone different at the front desk. I had to again explain the entire situation and request credits be posted to my account. I then had to ask for the free breakfast buffet coupon.

The breakfast buffet is served in the Seacrest Grill. The food was wonderful. Made to order omelettes, french toast, sausage, bacon, fruit, cereal...you name it, they had it.

They also have a very nice business center. 2 PC's with internet connections, a printer and copy machine. Very nicely done.

Overall, a nice stay but I wish I didn't have the hassle with the rate code. I wish the front desk staff had a better clue of what was going on.
