Nice rooms, bad service A review of River Park Hotel & Suites Downtown/Convention Center

I stayed at the Clarion for business and some play. When I arrived around midnight, valet parking at $15/day was the only option -- it is difficult to find alternative parking that you would be willing to walk to at night. The night valet did not speak English, which caused some difficulty parking and retrieving my car. The front desk staff seemed unhelpful in accommodating questions when I asked in person and the phone was always busy when I tried to call from my room. Try to stay on the riverfront side -- even from the 16th floor I could hear highway noise. The hotel is in walking distance to the Bayshore outdoor mall, which is nice for evening shopping or eating. The rooms were spacious and well-maintained, though the a/c sounded like a jet flying overhead. The elevators were an adventure every time.
