I found a special on Travelzoo and booked this place for New Year's Eve. Very nice hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful but not overbearing. The design is great. We went to the hotel's wine reception and enjoyed the champagne. The lobby was modern in design but still very warm and cozy with low lighting and a lit fireplace. The soft music added a nice touch.

I was a bit disappointed when we first opened the door to our room because the first thing I noticed was the view. It was very industrial, and we could see a Public Storage building. However, once I closed the drapes, the room looked great. Very smart design with lots of browns, yellows, and blues. We had the standard room, which was fine. The 32-inch flat-screen TV was certainly big enough for the room. The brown striped bathrobes were pretty cool.

We had dinner at the hotel's restaurant, Central 214, and we were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was and how large the portions were. The service was wonderful.

The hotel is across the street from Mockingbird Station, which includes a Starbucks, an Angelika movie theater and several other restaurants and shops.

The clientele seemed pretty upscale, but people were very friendly at the wine reception. Even on New Year's Eve, it was pretty quiet. We hardly heard anything from our rooms.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and loved the design and atmosphere.
