Nice place, better than I expected A review of Horseshoe Bay Resort
I was at the Marriott in Horseshoe Bay Resort for a business meeting. I was impressed with the lobby, the check in staff, the elevators were fast and never had to wait, the room was, I thought, one of the best. Beds looked like Westin Heavenly Beds, and were very comfortable. Granite and nice woods in the bathrooms, huge vanity top, great water pressure in sink and shower. Comfortable chair and table for working in room. Views of the pool were nice. I didn't use the pool but it looked good from all angles. Food was pricey, but better than most hotel food. The appetizers were huge, I added chicken (an option) to one, and it was my supper. The chicken was quite good. The Tortilla Soup was good.
Meeting room was awesome, high ceilings, good lighting, well done. We walked to the Yacht Club for supper and the French chef there is great. I enjoyed the meal very much, rib eye steak was tops. The atmosphere in the remodeled Yacht Club was great, we ate on the outdoor deck, great views of waterfalls, pool, new sanded beach and the lake. It doesn't get much better than this in my experience. We walked to the Yacht club, and discovered a nice park and water feature with fountain half way there. There were also hotel courtesy shuttles to the Yacht club, and they came often.
Our group rented pontoons and cruised the lake Saturday afternoon. All in all, it was very good place to meet in my opinion. We had people fly in from many parts of the USA and Canada.
On the down side, it is well over an hour from the Austin Airport and directions are skimpy. Hertz never-lost doesn't have Horseshoe Bay in the computer, we didn't know to plug in Marble Falls, the nearest town, so wandered around lost for 20 min, called the hotel, but they were not great help on directions. Staff was young and courteous, but not up to big city Westin hotels and places like that. I think this Marriott will build a strong following over time, the golf, the quiet, the food, the meeting rooms, the Yacht Club in particular, and great pricing (at least for our group).
