Nice Old Historic Hotel With Many of the Downfalls of Older Hotels A review of The Westin Columbus
The Columbus Westin is a very nice, old hotel with many of the charming aspects you'd expect- located in the heart of Columbus within walking distance from many of the areas key attractions. The lobby area was very nice, and retains much of the look and feel of the original architecture. One of the signs on the building implied that it was originally the Columbus Opera House.
If you are particular about the type of hotel you stay in you should be aware of the following:
1) the walls are thin. You will hear most of what's going on in the rooms around you because the walls are not insulated very well.
2) The rooms were not built with King beds in mind. Our entertainment center was less than 2 feet from the foot of the bed.
3) No hot water. The hot water heater on our floor did not work (or it was used up by the time I went to take a shower....either way cold shower!)
I would not recommend the hotel restaurant, The Theatre Cafe, which was poorly staffed, and the food arrived cold even though there were only three other tables full in the warehouse.
